Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade 2009
The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is set to return to the town this summer thanks to the support of Arts Council England, Yorkshire and Lloyds TSB, and organisers expect it to be even bigger and brighter than last year! This year’s Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade will be Saturday 20 June, 2009 at 2pm.

Darwin Theme For Hebden Bridge Arts Festival 2009
Last year’s Hebden Bridge Arts Festival was a huge success – and the 2009 Festival promises another fantastic mix of theatre, music, dance and art. This time around, the Festival will be celebrating the bicentenary of Darwin’s birth, with an exciting strand of events under the banner Evolution, Revolution.
Hebden Bridge Library Open Day Tours
There’s a chance to get a first look at improvements to Hebden Bridge library on Saturday, 31st January, when an open day will be held at the refurbished building. Come and get a sneak preview of work so far, with half-hour tours running at 10.30am, 11am, 11.30am and noon. There is no need to book, but places on the tours will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Calderdale Councillors Take Treesponsibility
A trio of Calderdale Councillors are to ‘dig in’ at a tree planting session taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 27th January 2009). Councillor Barry Collins, Councillor Joyce Cawthra and Councillor Robert Thompson will be joining the Community Group Treesponsibility to plant a fresh batch of saplings at Steanor Bottom, Walsden.

The Edinburgh based publishers of hundreds of local newspaper titles and associated websites, appears to be facing ever increasing financial difficulties. Many of Calderdale’s own local newspapers including the Halifax Courier, Todmorden News and Hebden Bridge Times, could soon cease to exist if the downward spiral of Johnston Press’ share price continues.
Have Your Say At The Calderdale Area Forums 2009
The first Area Forums of 2009 will be held across Calderdale this week, offering people another chance to have a say on local issues. Topics up for discussion include energy efficiency, how the Council spends your money, a University for Halifax and how the Council deals with people’s rubbish. There is also an open forum for people to ask questions on any topic.
Labour Party Rejects Janet Oosthuysen As Candidate
Hebden Bridge resident Janet Oosthuysen has not been endorsed by the Labour Party NEC as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Calder Valley seat following revelations that she had been cautioned by police for damaging her former boyfriend Craig Moore’s BMW car. The incident was reportedly caught on the CCTV cameras of the local office of the current Calder Valley MP, Chris McCafferty.
