Tales From Gaza With Sharyn Lock
Author Sharyn Lock will be at Hebden Bridge library on Friday 7th May to tell her gripping story of Gaza: Beneath the Bombs. Travelling with the Free Gaza Movement, Sharyn believed that the greatest danger she faced would be making it past the Israeli sea blockade in a fishing boat.
May Day Craft Fun At Shibden Hall
Shibden Hall is set for a busy May Day on 3rd May, thanks to a successful appeal for talented craftspeople to show off their skills. The estate will host a range of craft demonstrations including blacksmithing, stone carving, rag rugging, pole lathing and many more traditional local crafts.

Calderdale Meeting To Discuss Carbon Emissions
Members of the Economy and Environment Scrutiny Panel are meeting to discuss the work undertaken to reduce carbon emissions on Wednesday (21st April). In October 2009 the Council added their name to a public list as a pledge of their commitment to achieve a 10% cut in carbon emissions in 2010, based on the national ‘10:10’ initiative.

Calderdale is celebrating St George’s Day on Friday 23 April with a host of events and activities over the weekend. See St George face the fearsome dragon at the Piece Hall, make your own dragon headdress, enjoy family activities at Bankfield Museum, get free entry to leisure centres when you wear the St George cross – and much more!

Calderdale Council’s road safety team is issuing a warning to parents and drivers to be aware of children playing on or near the road as summer approaches. Last year, 95 children were injured on our roads; 43 pedestrians, 9 cyclists, 3 as either riders or passengers on powered two wheelers and 40 as car passengers.
