Ice Skating At The Piece Hall 2009

Get your skates on and experience the magic and thrill of a real ice rink in the unique setting of Halifax’s 17th Century Piece Hall.

You can now book advance tickets for the hugely popular ice rink, which is organised and funded by Calderdale Council, with sponsorship help from the Halifax and Wilmott Dixon construction. The Rink opens for its fourth year at the Piece Hall on Saturday 28 November and run for five weeks until Sunday 3 January.

Don’t miss out on the chance to skate at one of the UK’s biggest authentic ice attractions, get that winter glow and have some festive fun with family, friends or colleagues.

What’s more, The Rink is under a marquee so you can skate whatever the weather.
Set in the heart of Halifax town centre, make The Rink part of your Christmas shopping experience, tie in a wander around the Piece Hall’s independent shops or enjoy an ‘apres-skate’ cuppa in one of the cafes. The Piece Hall will also be hosting a fantastic programme of festive events and activities in the run-up to Christmas, so come along and enjoy the winter wonderland atmosphere.

The Rink will be open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years’ Day. Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £5 for under-18s, with some great discounts on family and group tickets. And our great weekday skate offer means everyone can skate for just £3 at two daytime sessions from Monday to Friday, until 18 December (12.15pm to 1.15pm, or 3.45pm to 4.45pm). Get away from your desk at lunchtime and beat the blues, or take a break from your shopping and enjoy this great discount. Ask about a Rink Loyalty Card if you’re planning to skate regularly.

Tickets can be bought on the day, or in advance at the Victoria Theatre Box Office, open 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, book in person or phone 01422 351158. No booking fee applies. For more details and great special offers, visit www.calderdale.gov.uk/iceskating

Councillor Ian Cooper, CMBC Community Services portfolio holder, said:-
“The Rink is always hugely popular with people of all ages, and we’re looking forward to its return this November. It’s open to all abilities so even if you’ve never skated before, come along, wrap up warm and have a go!”

Alex Barnett from the Halifax said: “This is the fourth year the ice rink has come to Halifax. This, along with all the other festive activities in the town, makes for a great Christmas experience.”
