Woman's Body Found In River Calder At Bridge Gate
West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation today following the discovery of a woman’s body in the River Calder in Hebden Bridge, near the Bridge Gate area of the town. It is believed that the woman was from the local area, and aged around forty years old. The woman’s family have been informed of her death.
The discovery was made by local people at approximately 9am this morning, and details of exactly how the woman died and why her body was in the river, have yet to be established.
Detective Superintendent Tim Forber of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is understood to be on his way to the scene. A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out on Tuesday morning.
